Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with RBC that during the battles in Nagorno-Karabakh, some Russian media carried out propaganda against his country.
“On some Russian channels we see rabid anti-Azerbaijani propaganda, falsification, manipulation, unbalanced composition of talk show participants,” Aliyev said.
He said that the people and the president of Azerbaijan were insulted on the leading Russian channels. All this “does not add to the authority of Russia” in the republic and “may one day lead to certain difficulties,” Aliyev stressed.
“I brought this issue to the attention of the Russian leadership,” the President of Azerbaijan noted.
He added that Baku and Moscow have plans for the further development of cooperation, the countries are actively working on five roadmaps. “But the information attack that we faced with the Russian media during this time, of course, did great harm to the public perception of Russia,” concluded Aliyev.
Earlier, Aliyev called on the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to thank Vladimir Putin for the fact that Russia “has once again come to the rescue of Armenia.”
The fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh began on September 27. Baku and Yerevan accused each other of provocation and escalation of the conflict. After almost two weeks of hostilities, the foreign ministers of the two republics arrived in Moscow for talks mediated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The negotiations lasted nine hours. The parties decided to declare a truce and start “substantive” (substantive) negotiations at the OSCE Minsk Group platform.
