Armenia accuses Azerbaijan of disrupting humanitarian truce

0 0

On the night of October 18, Baku violated the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, said the representative of the Armenian Ministry of Defense Shushan Stepanyan.
“Once again violating the humanitarian ceasefire, the enemy fired artillery fire in the northern direction , as well as rocket fire in the southern direction ,” Stepanyan wrote on Facebook.
The parties report the breakdown of the ceasefire regime for the second time since the resumption of fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh. Initially, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, following an appeal by President Vladimir Putin, agreed on a humanitarian ceasefire in the region from noon on October 10. However, almost immediately after it came into force, Baku and Yerevan accused each other of violating the agreement, and then shelling continued throughout the week.
On October 17, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with colleagues from Azerbaijan and Armenia Jeyhun Bayramov and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. After that, the parties announced a new date for the ceasefire. It went into effect at midnight on October 18th.
