The Yakut City Duma has accepted the resignation of the mayor of Sardana Avksentieva, who had earlier announced her early resignation. This was reported on the website of the city administration.
“17 deputies voted for, six deputies were against, one abstained,” the message says.
Evgeny Grigoriev has been appointed acting head of Yakutsk.
On January 11, Avksentieva announced her resignation from the post of head of Yakutsk for health reasons. On January 12, Avksentieva went to the hospital, where she will have several operations.
Sardana Avksentieva became the mayor of Yakutsk in September 2018. Then she bypassed the candidate from United Russia, Alexander Savvinov, becoming the first female mayor of Yakutsk.
In mid-November 2020, Avksentieva announced her intention to sell the city hall building to replenish the budget. The ex-mayor said that city officials “do not have to sit in an expensive building in the heart of the city.” According to Avksentieva, the authorities are ready to build an inexpensive building and move there.
