The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have sent an application for a Russian vaccine against coronavirus. This was announced by the acting. Minister of Health Alexander Oprishchenko, quoted by the Donetsk news agency.
The DPR is waiting for approval from Moscow, as well as the supply of the drug, added Oprischenko. “I can’t tell you about the timing,” he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the registration of the first coronavirus vaccine on August 11.
A few days later, on August 15, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, in a conversation with the miners, said that the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic expect to deliver the vaccine to its territory. “We pin very high hopes on vaccination,” said Pushilin.
On August 11, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that Russia had already received requests for 1 billion doses of Sputnik V vaccine at that time. 20 countries, in particular the states of Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, sent their applications.
According to the DPR Ministry of Health, as of October 15, 4905 cases of coronavirus were registered in the republic, 2284 patients are now being treated, and 324 deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the epidemic.
On October 14, Putin announced the registration in Russia of the second coronavirus vaccine developed by the Vector Center. He also said that the third domestic vaccine is already “on the way”.
