Allegations by the US authorities about the FSB’s involvement in what happened to Alexei Navalny (founder of the Anti-Corruption Fund, included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent) in the summer of 2020 are outrageous, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.

A Kremlin spokesman said the US used the “Berlin patient case” as an excuse to impose new sanctions on some Russian citizens and organizations. “At the same time, our American colleagues with a high degree of probability claim that the poisoning allegedly took place, and the Federal Security Service is behind the poisoning. This is outrageous, ”said Peskov.

On Tuesday, March 2, the conclusions of the US Intelligence Community about the involvement of the FSB in the incident with Navalny were assessed by Leonid Rink, one of the developers of the Novichok nerve agent. He noticed that the States themselves have a formula for making this poison.

Earlier in the day, the US announced the imposition of sanctions against a number of Russians and organizations. The list included FSB director Alexander Bortnikov, prosecutor general Igor Krasnov, head of the FSIN Alexander Kalashnikov, deputy defense ministers Pavel Popov and Alexei Krivoruchko, head of the Kremlin’s internal policy department Andrei Yarin and others. In addition to them, the 27th Scientific Center of the Ministry of Defense, the 33rd Central Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense and the Scientific Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology (GosNIIOKhT) fell under the restrictions.
