Publicist Yevgeny Ponasenkov, known online as Maestro, spoke out about Oleg Sokolov’s recognition in court of guilt in the murder of graduate student Anastasia Yeshchenko. It is reported by “NSN”.
In a conversation with reporters, Ponasenkov said that Sokolov constantly shifts his blame to others: first to the victim, then to her parents. “That is, everyone is to blame except him,” the publicist said.
During the court hearings, Sokolov also claimed that Ponasenkov arranged harassment for him on the Internet. However, the publicist himself calls these accusations “bullshit”.
“Of course, there was no bullying. On the contrary, his cattle mummers arranged provocations on the Internet and persecution against me. He also has resources. He’s got a lot of crazy mummers called reenactors And I’m just a young scientist, ”Ponasenkov said.
The maestro also noted that Sokolov did not repent of what he had done, and his confession of guilt was insincere. According to Ponasenkov, the defense of the historian deliberately delayed the process, and now Sokolov “tries to pity the judge through”.
The conflict between Sokolov and Ponasenkov has been dragging on since 2018. Then Ponasenkov accused his colleague of plagiarism, saying that he borrowed certain concepts from his book “The First Scientific History of the War of 1812” without making any references. Sokolov, however, called Ponasenkov’s monograph unscientific and not credible on the part of the readers. The dispute was examined by the court, the litigation ended in favor of Ponasenkov.
Sokolov was detained on November 9, 2019 in St. Petersburg while trying to drown a backpack with cut off female hands in the Moika River. He later admitted that he had killed his graduate student and partner Anastasia Yeshchenko, then dismembered her body to get rid of the evidence. After that, he allegedly planned to take his own life in the Peter and Paul Fortress in a Napoleon costume.
