Opera singer, widow of ex-State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov, who was killed in Ukraine, Maria Maksakova, revealed the reason for her visit to Moscow. She shared her plans in an interview with Business FM.
The performer said that she returned to Russia because of the trial for the division of a Moscow apartment. She was staying at a hotel, registering under a different name.
Maksakova said that in 2017 she agreed on a real estate exchange with Denis Panaitov, the ex-head of the department of the Investigative Committee of the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region, a business partner of her late husband. Then she rewrote the Moscow apartment to him, and Panaitov had to transfer her housing in Kiev. He received the rights to an apartment in Moscow the day before the murder of Voronenkov, but he did not fulfill his part of the agreement. The artist explained that she made her visit to the capital of Russia so “open and noisy” for her safety.
“The courts are coming, the courts are assigning me certain events, of course, and Panaitov also knows that I will be holding these events,” the opera singer emphasized. She did not confirm the final return to Russia, saying that she had arrived in Moscow solely because of the court proceedings.
Earlier it was reported that Maria Maksakova secretly flew to Moscow from Kiev via Istanbul. The media claimed that she plans to stay in Russia.
