Mayor of Yalta, infected with coronavirus, dies

The head of the Yalta administration Ivan Imgrunt has died, the Crimean government told Kommersant. According to preliminary data, Mr. Imgrunt died as a result of complications of a chronic disease (thrombosis) caused by coronavirus infection. The official was 59 years old.
Mr. Imgrunt was hospitalized with pneumonia in a hospital in St. Petersburg on September 30. On the eve of his sick leave, he fired his deputy, a native of Belarus, Mikhail Zagortsev, because of his critical words about Russia and support for the Belarusian opposition.
An outbreak was recorded in the Yalta city administration in the summer. Then, more than twenty employees of the Yalta administration confirmed the coronavirus.
Over the past day, 169 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Crimea. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 7009 citizens have become infected in the region, 110 people have died.
