The Barcelona Board of Governors intends to cut the salary fund by € 190 million to avoid bankruptcy of the club in 2021, radio station RAC 1 reports. For this, according to the radio, the management met with lawyers representing the interests of the club’s players.
RAC 1 sources close to the negotiation process said that unless the parties agree on a reduction in player fees by November 5, Barcelona will not be able to pay the obligations from the beginning of 2021.
On the eve of the meeting, Barcelona’s new management dismissed Jaume Masferrera, an associate of former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who voluntarily resigned on 28 October amid a crisis at the club and pending a vote of no confidence from Barcelona fans.
