More than 100 protesters were detained in Belarus on Sunday, October 11. The list was published by the human rights center Viasna.
Most of the arrests take place in Minsk, and the list of cities also includes Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno, Mogilev and others. There are journalists among the detainees, some of them were released.
Earlier it was reported that the Belarusian security forces completely cleared the central districts of Minsk from the demonstrators. Participants of the opposition rally in the Belarusian capital were dispersed with the help of stun grenades and water cannons. It is known about the detention of TASS correspondents and Belarusian journalists.
Presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9. The CEC said that Alexander Lukashenko, who ran for a sixth term, won 80 percent of the vote, and the main opposition candidate, the wife of the arrested blogger, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, 10 percent. This sparked massive protests that have been taking place across the country for two months.
