Alexei Navalny said that he was in a pre-trial detention center in the Vladimir region and had no connection with the outside world. As “entertainment” in the pre-trial detention center, he dries crackers
In the accounts of Alexei Navalny in social networks, his letter appeared, from which it follows that he is in pre-trial detention center-3 “Kolchugino” in the Vladimir region. The full text was posted on his Instagram.
“Everything is fine with me, there is even a horizontal bar in the exercise yard. I have not received letters yet and I know even less about what is happening in the outside world than when I was in Moscow, ”Navalny said. The letter goes on to describe how he spends his time in custody. “We haven’t managed to get to the library yet either, because the only entertainment is experiments in the field of haute cuisine, which is facilitated by the fact that food from the prison stall is not yet available. Believe it or not, we are drying crackers, and I never thought it could be so exciting. Now we have a competition between two cuisines: street food and molecular, ”the message says.
On February 25, Navalny was convoyed from the Moscow SIZO “Matrosskaya Tishina” and taken to the Vladimir region. On February 27, sources from Yarnovosti and Mediazona reported that Navalny would serve his sentence in a general regime colony IK-2 in the town of Pokrov. The secretary of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) of Moscow, Alexei Melnikov, said that the first days he would be in quarantine.
Navalny was detained on January 17 after returning to Russia from Germany, where he had been undergoing treatment since August after poisoning. In Russia, he became a defendant in two lawsuits. The first was connected with the requirement of the Federal Penitentiary Service to replace his suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case with a real one. The department justified this by the fact that the oppositionist repeatedly violated the conditions of release from custody and did not appear on time at the criminal executive inspectorate. The second trial was in a libel case initiated by Navalny’s comment on the RT video in support of the amendments to the Constitution, in which World War II veteran Ignat Artemenko starred.
On February 2, the court agreed with the FSIN’s demand and sent Navalny to a colony. Taking into account the served house arrest, the oppositionist will stay in a general regime colony for 2.5 years. In the libel case, Navalny was also found guilty and fined 850,000 rubles.
