London, 18 October 2020, 19:25 – REGNUM A new symptom that may signal human infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, scientists from University College London and the Royal National Committee have identified. This is reported by Express with reference to specialists.
According to scientists, changes in hearing – ringing or noise in the ears (tinnitus) – can indicate COVID-19 disease. Experts have found that a number of patients, even before learning about the diagnosis, complained of tinnitus without any external stimulus.
In addition, in the future, this symptom in some “severe” patients led to complete hearing loss. Scientists have called on doctors around the world who are involved in identifying cases of coronavirus infection among patients to pay attention to this symptom when making a diagnosis.
However, it is noted that tinnitus may not necessarily mean infection with SARS-CoV-2.
As reported by IA REGNUM, earlier a team of scientists from the UK came to the conclusion that COVID-19 can cause sudden and irreversible hearing loss in patients.
