Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the system of the Unified State Examination (USE), calling the criticism of it fair. At the same time, he noted that the Unified State Exam allows schoolchildren from the regions to enter the country’s leading universities. His words are quoted by TASS.
The President noted that the USE is being modernized. In particular, a mixed system is used for admission (the Unified State Exam and entrance examinations in universities – approx. “Lenta.ru”).
In addition, Putin noted that about 60 percent of graduates will be able to apply for budget places in the new academic year. “We have already increased the number of budget places in universities. In the coming academic year, almost 34 thousand more budget places will be allocated, and they will mainly be received in the regions of Russia, ”the president specified.
Earlier it was reported that the average score on the USE in 2020 increased, despite the transfer of schoolchildren to distance learning due to the coronavirus pandemic. Best of all, of the subjects of their choice, schoolchildren passed literature (average score – 60, which is 4.95 points higher than in 2016). Also, the average score became higher in such disciplines as specialized mathematics, computer science, Russian, physics and social studies. In addition, the average score increased slightly on the chemistry exam (by 0.13).
