Vaccination against COVID-19 will begin in a few weeks and you need to go through the pandemic without losses, while mass vaccination will be possible a little later. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said this on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.
“In a few months, there will definitely be a vaccine that can be used to vaccinate people on an industrial scale. This story will end, but we need to go through this story without loss, ”he said.
The mayor recalled the constant risk of infection. According to him, there may be a person nearby who does not even suspect that he is a carrier of the virus and thus can unwittingly become a distributor.
At the moment, the second stage of post-registration vaccination in the framework of the Sputnik V vaccine study is underway in the capital and throughout Russia. As Sobyanin previously reported, post-registration tests will take from two to six months. The first batch of the domestic vaccine was released into civilian circulation in early September and was delivered to the regions. The Gamaleya Center announced the start of production of the second batch.
Sobyanin also said that the city authorities will monitor compliance with the requirements for the transition of workers to remote work. Earlier, the mayor’s office obliged the company to transfer 30% of its employees to remote work. There is no talk of a full return of quarantine yet. According to Sobyanin, it is necessary to preserve jobs and salaries in the capital, which directly affect the “psychological health” of citizens.
The high alert mode due to the coronavirus was introduced in Moscow on March 5, and since then it has been repeatedly tightened. However, in the summer he was gradually removed.
In September, a surge in infections began in Moscow and in Russia as a whole. The number of cases has reached spring rates. Over the past day, a daily record was set for the number of infected – 12,846 people. In Moscow, 4105 new cases of infection were detected.
