Suspected of fraud for 700 million rubles. Gennady Orlov, head of the administration of the Vyborg district of the Leningrad region, was placed under house arrest. This was reported in the joint press service of the joint press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.
“The court chose house arrest until November 12,” the press service said.
Orlov was detained on October 17. The investigation believes that at the end of July last year, the suspect, together with the chairman of the administration’s finance committee, as well as with other persons, used documents with false information about the allegedly completed repairs of buildings and premises in Vyborg.
Investigators say the work was not actually carried out. In total, 700 million rubles were allocated from the budget for the work, which, according to the UK, Orlov shared with the accomplices in the crime.
A criminal case was initiated against the official under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale). The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to ten years.
The suspect did not admit his guilt during the meeting as he was suppressed.
