The military prosecutor’s office objected to all three complaints received against the verdict of the 2nd Eastern District Military Court to the conscript soldier Ramil Shamsutdinov, said his lawyer and author of one of the complaints, Ravil Tugushev. According to him, objections were received both to the appeal by the defense and to the complaint of the lawyer Sergei Gritsko, who represents the interests of the victims.
“The military prosecutor’s office has given its objection to all three appeals (two – from the representatives of the convicted person. – Kommersant), it considers the court’s decision to be lawful and justified, that there are no grounds for changing it either in the direction of toughening or softening,” said Mr. Tugushev to TASS.
Ramil Shamsutdinov shot colleagues at the military unit of the Trans-Baikal Territory in October 2019. As a result of the incident, eight people were killed and two were injured. On January 21, the court sentenced Ramil Shamsutdinov to 24.5 years in a strict regime colony and compensation of 9.8 million rubles. The relatives of those killed in their complaint insisted on life imprisonment, while Ramil Shamsutdinov’s representatives insisted on reducing the term.
