The Lada Granta model in 2020 became the best-selling car in Russia. During the year, residents of the country bought more than 126 thousand of these cars (7 percent less compared to 2019). This was announced by the Association of European Businesses.
Lada Vesta was in second place in popularity – 107 thousand of these cars were sold in 2020. The organization placed KIA Rio in third place (88 thousand cars sold). The top ten also includes Hyundai Creta (77.5 thousand), Volkswagen Polo (58.5 thousand), Hyundai Solaris (49 thousand), Lada Largus VP (37 thousand), Toyota RAV 4 (36.5 thousand), Volkswagen Tiguan ( almost 33 thousand) and Renault Logan (32.6 thousand).
In total, 1.6 million cars were sold in Russia in 2020, which is 9.1 percent less than a year earlier. The country ranked fourth in Europe in terms of indicator, behind Germany, France and the UK. At the same time, Russia has overtaken such states as, for example, Italy. In general, in 2020 Russia has shown one of the best results among the largest automotive markets in the world, said the chairman of the committee of automakers of the association Thomas Stärzel.
Earlier it was reported that sales of AvtoVAZ in 2020 fell by 4.95 percent compared to 2019. Lada’s share in the domestic market amounted to 21.5 percent at the end of the year.
