Coronavirus, like other respiratory infectious diseases, will decline by the end of winter. This will be facilitated by an increase in the amount of sun and vaccinations. Such a forecast in an interview with radio Sputnik was given by Doctor of Medical Sciences, anchor of the TV channel “Doctor” Nikolai Durmanov.
According to him, a surge in the incidence is not expected after the New Year holidays. The medic expressed hope that the Russians heeded the advice of the experts and decided to minimize contact during the long weekend. “Holidays do not mean that we have re-energized again and we are waiting for the third or second and a half wave,” the TV presenter stressed.
Closer to spring, as noted by Durmanov, people catch colds less often and ventilate the premises more, thereby reducing the risk of getting sick. In addition, there was hope for a decline in the spread of infection after vaccination. “By about mid-summer, 50–70 percent, at least in risk groups, will have the necessary antibodies in the body to fight infection,” the doctor concluded.
Earlier, virologist Viktor Zuev predicted the end date of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia. According to him, it should be completed by the end of the summer of 2021.
