Coordinator of the headquarters of the opposition of Belarus Yuri Voskresensky and director of PandaDoc company Dmitry Rabtsevich changed the measure of restraint – they were released from the KGB detention center in Belarus under house arrest, the state TV channel Belarus-1 reported. Mr. Voskresensky’s wife, Olesya, confirmed to Radio Svoboda that her wife was placed under house arrest.
According to Yuri Voskresensky, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed him to prepare proposals for amendments to the constitution and options for the separation of people, which “turned out to be not as socially dangerous for our country as they seemed at the first stage.”
Mr. Rabtsevich said on air of “Belarus-1” that the meeting with Mr. Lukashenko was held “with the aim of building a dialogue on how to get out of the situation, what ideas are there regarding amendments to the constitutional order.” He also talked about the benefits of the Hi-Tech Park, an economic zone created for IT companies in Belarus, where the developers of PandaDoc work. Recall that the co-founder of PandaDoc Mikita Mikado, in response to the arrest of the heads of the Belarusian office, initiated his move to another country.
Yuri Voskresensky and Dmitry Rabtsevich were among the arrested oppositionists with whom Mr. Lukashenko met the day before. The content of the conversation was kept secret by a “general decision,” the Pool Pervyi Telegram channel, linked to the president’s press service, reported. The footage from the meeting with the detention center did not show the representative of the headquarters of Viktor Babariko Maria Kolesnikova or the opposition leader Sergei Tikhanovsky. At the same time, he was allowed to talk on the phone with his wife Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, whom the opposition considers the winner of the presidential elections in Belarus.
