Russians need to be banned from traveling abroad for tourist purposes due to the increase in coronavirus cases. This proposal was made by the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky in his Telegram channel.
“In connection with the outbreak of COVID in Moscow and other regions of Russia, it is urgent to stop the travel of our citizens abroad for tourist purposes,” the deputy said in a statement.
The politician believes that the decision of the authorities to resume the tourist flow from Russia to southern countries, in particular to Turkey, was premature. According to Zhirinovsky, it was the holidaymakers who brought the second wave of coronavirus to Russia.
International flights have been closed in Russia since the end of March due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. After a decrease in the number of cases of infection in August, the Russian authorities began to resume flights to other countries. At the moment, you can fly from Russia to Turkey, Great Britain, Tanzania, Switzerland, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and South Korea.
Earlier, the first deputy head of the social committee of the Federation Council, Valery Ryazansky, said that due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases, discussions on the possible closure of borders were resumed at the end of September. However, the Ministry of Transport denied this information.
